Kanthasamy for July 10th

Vikram's upcoming movie Kanthasamy, is confimed for this july 10th. The film has been shooting for the last two years. This Superhero movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan. Shriya Saran is the heroine of the movie. The music of the Movie Kanthasamy were released early this month.

Kanthasamy is a superman like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the story to make it a commercial entertainer. Vikram got to fame by his heartbreaking performances in films like Sethu, Dil, Dhool, Gemini, Anniyan and Pithamagan but now he is in such a situation that he badly needs a hit since his last two outings Majaa and Bheema were total wash out at the box office.

You all will be still remembering that the film was launched with a lot of fanfare including a trailer more than two years back. According to the makers, the delay was due to the time taken for the shoot of the film. Now the film that was completed in a whooping budget of 70 crores, will finally reach the theatres by 10th of July. In kerala, the movie distributed by Thameens, will grace 70 theaters on the same day.

Dileep to act in a Kamal movie

Malayalam actor Dileep, is going to do yet another lead role in a movie to be directed by veteran director Kamal. The last time Dileep had acted in a Kamal movie was in Perumazhakaalam. This new untitled movie is currently in it's final stages of the script completion, which was handled jointly by director Kamal and Kalavoor Ravikumar.

The new film, which will be a story of vengeance in the backdrop of a military station, will have P Sukumar as the cinematographer. The major highlight of the film will be that popular Tamil actor Sathyaraj will be doing a key role in the film - that of a military officer. More details about this new film, which is likely to start rolling in August is yet to be revealed.

Resul Pookutty helps talented students

Resul Pookutty after his Oscar's winning he is also promoting so many other good things.

Oscar winner Resul Pookutty says he wants to help a “technically talented student” and has decided to sponsor one student every year.
Pookutty, who graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune 15 years ago, will sponsor a student of the institute. The funds will come from his foundation - The Resul Pookutty Foundation.
“We will give scholarship to a deserving candidate to gain knowledge about technical aspects of filmmaking. It is an initiative to help a keen learner and it is also an effort to promote technical talent in cinema,” Pookutty, who is here for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, told reporters at a press conference.
Pookutty, who won the Academy Award for his work in Danny Boyle’s much acclaimed “Slumdog Millionaire”, says he had discussed the idea of sponsoring a student with IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan on a personal note after which he “really wanted to do it”.
Appreciative of Pookutty’s initiative, Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft, the IIFA organisers quipped: “May your tribe increase Resul!”

Mammooty as distributor and producer

Malayalam film superstar Mammootty, sunday geared up for a new role - that of a producer and distributor - with the inauguration of his production company named Play House.
The ribbon cutting ceremony of new company was done here by popular film personalities Siddique and Lal.
“The name of the company itself means theatre and hence it would be for both film and drama. Opportunities would be there for new faces in film and drama,” Mammootty told reporters.
The actor has been one of the leading stars of the Malayalam film industry for the past 26 years and has put on the grease-paint in more than 300 films besides picking up three national awards for acting.
The company has lined up three films for distribution and one for production in which Mammootty will play the lead, the actor informed.
The first film to be distributed is Jayaram-starrer “Kana Kanmani” directed by Akku Akbar and the others films by award winning director Shyamaprasad and Lal Jose.

Aayirathil Oruvan Audio Launch

Here is the most voluptuary affair in tinsel town. The reveling tunes of Aayirathil Oruvan were unveiled last evening at University Centenary Hall, Madras University Campus. The most-acclaimed celebrities of K-Town including film’s cast and crew; Karthi, Andrea, Reema Sen, Parthiban, Music Director G.V. Prakash, Producer Ravendran and others were present. Totting up to the star-spangled occasion was much revealing with the presence of versatile filmmakers Shankar, A.R. Murugadoss, Bhagyaraj, Sun Pictures Hansraj Saxena, Nigerian Cultural Minister, Latha Rajnikanth, Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya.
On this red-letter night, the film’s crew shared their best experiences of shooting for this flick over a long time. Perhaps, mantra of ‘No Pain, No Gain’ in their speech happened to be centre of attraction. Gorgeous missies Andrea and Reema Sen sizzled with their alluring appearance.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhanush uttered, I got to hear the buzzes that ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ has nothing special. But it’s an unforeseen flick in the History of Tamil Cinema. Precisely, this film should be a grand success as producer has churned out this flick sacrificing a whole lot.
Director Selvaraghavan made one perfect statement – “its off-the-wall motif fashioned for universal audiences.”
Parthiban expressed his jovial touch of speech and didn’t reveal anything much. But interesting part was to hear him saying that he enacts the role of King who’ll appear in the latter part of the film.

Review: Ivar Vivahitharayal

Ivar Vivahitharayal is the latest malayalam movie which features Jayasuriya and Bhama in main roles.The movie released last day and as per reports the movie failed to impress all types of audience. Here is the review of the movie Ivar Vivahitharayal. The movie is directed by debutant director Saji Surendran.

The movie Ivar Vivahitharayal contains no good story , direction and almost all other parts were ok. While trying to give the message to the auddience, the movie resembles and goes like a Mega Sireal in the theatre. Vivek (Jayasurya) is an MBA student and the only son of a lawyer-couple, played by Siddique and Rekha. The parents, who live separately in adjacent apartments though not legally divorced, are stunned when their son asks to get him married soon after his exams are over.

He gets married to Kavya (Bhama), a radio jockey who has just lost her job and their problems start right from day one.Kavya finds it difficult to adjust with her husband, as he is too immature! To add to her woes, he is too close to his friends even after their marriage, especially to Tessy (Samvritha Sunil). Soon there is tension happening between them and the parents as well.

As he announces towards the end, it was an attempt to bring his parents close that Vivek tied the knot in the first place, but he perhaps opted for the wrong partner!Now, with its rather dramatic situations, amateurish script and unimpressive performances, the film is not perhaps intended to be taken too seriously. Both Jayasurya and Bhama behave as if they have no definite idea about the nature of their characters.

No wonder, it is comedian Suraj Venjarammood and to some extent, Samvritha Sunil, who eventually come out with the most impressive performances in the film. The direction is good.The negatives of the movie are Weak dialogues and poor songs. According to me, Ivar Vivahitharyal is a watchable one for time pass. I rate it as an average movie.

Prithviraj to act in a horror film

Young and upcoming Superstar of Malayalam film industry, Prithviraj will shortly be seen in a movie to be directed by the Kukku Surendran. Kukku, a cousin to the Sivan brothers (Santhosh Sivan, Sangeeth Sivan and Sanjeev Sivan), had made his directorial debut with Oraal and had then gone on to make Veeralipattu which has Prithviraj in the lead.

This new Prithviraj starrer is said to be a different kind of horror movie without the clichéd scenes and sequences that we usually get to see in horror movies. The script of this new untitled movie will be handled by S Balachandran, who has wrote the script for the Mohanlal starrer Alexander the Great.

Though details are not known about Kukku's forthcoming project, it's reported that the film is likely to start rolling in a month or two.

Mammooty, the superstar of malayalam is again joining with the veteran director joshi. Mammooty Joshi the hit pair has made many hits in the past in mollywood again joins for a script by AK Sajan. As per the reports Mammooty will join Joshi after completing Loud Speaker. Joshi is now doing his prithviraj movie Robinhood.

No Vulgar roles by Priyanka

Malayalam actress priyanka not wish to do vulgar roles. Malayalam actress Priyanka, who won the state film award for the best actress for director T.V. Chandran’s “Vilaapangalkappuram”, says she is not interested in exposing on screen.
“I study my character, visualize it from audience’s point of view and then I decide how I should portray it. I will never do vulgar scenes,” Priyanka told reporters here.
“After the awards were announced, the response from the industry was good and I am being noticed. I also got few offers,” she added said.
She has acted in three Malayalam films and two of them were directed by Chandran whose “Vilaapangalkappuram”, about a girl’s sufferings at the hands of religious extremistsm, was adjudged the second best movie while Adoor Gopalakrishan’s “Oru Pennun Randu Annum” won the best film award.
But Chandran Friday said the awards were given to a “TV serial and not a movie”.
When asked about Chandran’s comments, she said: “Anyone would be sad if they miss an award. I am only a beginner and not qualified to comment on the incidents that broke out after the awards were announced.”
Priyanka started her career with Malayalam TV serials and made her debut in tinsel town with a Tamil film.
“So far I have done nine films in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. My journey has just begun in the industry and I wish to stay here for a long time,” said Priyanka.

Bhavana in Ajith's film

Tamil Superstar Ajith, popularly known as Thala is now totally concentrating on his upcoming film Asal. This new film is Ajith's 49th venture and the actor is trying all his level best to make this movie a memorable one. Since his last outing, Aegan with Nayan Thara was a dud at the box office, Ajith have to deliver a hit in all manner.

This new Ajith starrer will be directed by the hit maker Saran, who had earlier made hit films like Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Attagasam with the same actor. She started her career as a model, appearing in many TV advertisements including that of Fair and Lovely and Josco Jeweller. She also starred in Falguni Pathak's music album Meri Chunar Ud Ud Jaye. Trisha Krishnan first made her debut in films when she was offered a small cameo in the film Jodi. However, the first movie in which she signed up to enact the role of the leading lady was Priyadarshan's Leysa Leysa.

Padmakumar back with a Prithvi starrer

Younger Superstar of Malayalam film industry, Prithviraj have signed a new Malayalam film. This new Prithviraj starrer will be directed by his close friend M Padmakumar. Both of them have joined together previousily for creating the films like Ammakilikoodu, Vargam and Vaastavam. This new film is titled as Paathiramanal and will be scripted by Babu Janaardhanan.

This new film will also feature Kalabhavan Mani, Nedumudi Venu, manikuttan, Suraj venjaramoodu and Murali. It will be produced by Shaji Nateshan in the banner of Barbo films. Padmakumar is now trying to get out of the shock that he faced with the poor show of his Mammootty starrer Parunthu. He is also planning to do a project with Mohanlal after this.

Dileep as a journalist

Dileep is back with the role of Journalist after his yesteryear movie "Calcutta News". Dileep's new project will be directed by cinematographer P Sukumar, will be scripted by Kalavoor Ravikumar. The movie will be produced by Madhuwarrier and P Sukumar in the banner of Colour Factory.

The other cast and crew of the movie will be announced later. Dileep's last movie "Passenger" is doing good business in the box office. Now his graph is increasing.Lets hope for the same with this new project of Dileep. At the same time Dileep's Body Guard is all set for a release. As per the reports it will be an Onam Release.

Jayasurya back in the police uniform

Young Malayalam actor, Jayasurya is once again going to play the role of a police officer after the film Positive. That film was directed by V K Prakash and the film was an average earner at the box office. Now Jayasurya will do the role of a cop, for the second time in Joshy's upcoming film Robinhood.

This new film from Joshy will also feature Prithviraj, Bhavana, Narain and Samvrutha Sunil in the lead. Jayasuriya will play the role of an officer, who is all set to find clues to a number of robberies happening in the ATM's. This new film is all said to be a thriller movie, which is slated as a Ramzan release for 2009.
