Mammootty's Thappana
Superstar Mammootty and Super director of Blockbuster Veruthe Oru Bharya (featuring Jayaram and Gopika in the lead) Akku Akbar are going to unite for the first in order to make a new film. This will only be Akku Akbar's second directorial venture as single director since he had more films with the company of Jose in the name Akbar Jose. This new film by Akku Akbar featuring Mammootty has been named as Thappana.
Other's in the cast are not yet finalized. This new film Thappana will feature Mammootty as a guy who owns an elephant. The film narrates the story of the emotional bonding between a man and an elephant. The elephant that is going to act in this movie is none other than Jayaram's elephant. That same elephant have acted in Kamal's Rappakal also. The script of the movie will be handled by Reji Nair, who have already penned Pattalam and Oruvan. This new film Thappana will be produced by Anto Joseph.
Before joining this film, Mammootty will have to complete Johny Antony's new film Pattanathil Bhootham, which will starts it's shoot by the first day of new year. By the time Mammootty will complete his remaining portions for much delayed Pazhassi Raja and KuttyShranku.

Aamir's Ghajani creating new records
Much awaited Aamir's Ghajani got released and is making rave reviews from all around the globe. The film has got released in about 22 countries simultaneousily with around 1200 prints. Ghajani is a powerful film, having a mind blowing story, which has been told with easeness by director A.R. Murugadoss. The script of the film too was handled by the director himself. Asin plays the role of heroine and Jiah Khan plays the second herine in the movie. The music department of the movie was handled by A R Rahman and Prasoon Joshi. This film was produced by Allu Aravind.
The film was carrying good preview reports and was actually a remake of a Tamil film with the same title. Surya and Asin were the lead artists in that movie. Ghajini shows how strong film making can enhance and elevate an already solid concept. It's rocking the nation from the first day itself and is going to continue it in the coming days also. With the tremendous response of audiences to the film Ghajani, now Aamir Khan and Director A.R. Murugadoss undoubtedly get ennobled as 'History Makers in Pages of Bollywood'.
Ghajani is commercial Hindi cinema at its best. The film will be surely a blockbuster, breaking almost all the records created by other films so far. It's so fantastic to hear that Aamir's Ghajini made a collection of Rs. 35Crores by advance booking on first day itself. Hot News: Namitha's dress changing sequences
In tamil film industry there are a lot of gossips and fake videos.But we don't know to how much extend it is correct or not.We had heard about so many of the gossips in tamil film industry.that is, after Trisha's bathroom clip and Nayantara's lip lock scenes, it is now Namitha's turn.
Some of her sexy scenes including her dress change sequences have been leaked and uploaded in some portals. A new video particularly featuring the actress changing clothes in her caravan, is the most viewed and discussed one in the Internet.
For sometime now, actresses have resorted to staying in the homes of their relatives or in their private caravans for fear of such videos being made when they stay in hotels. The caravan is where they rest between the shots and stay for a while. It is equipped with a bed, rest room and other facilities.
Namitha, who is currently working in Jagan Mohini, is shown changing clothes in the video, but it is unclear as to which movie she was then working on or the place.
The actress, who is currently in Mumbai is shocked about the incident and does not know when it was taken. However she is going to file a complaint at the city Cyber crime branch to curb the videos.

Mammootty to join hands with Kamal Hassan
In another sort of a casting coup,Kamal Hassan and Mammootty, the best of the actors of the country and three time national award winners is expected to come together for a movie.
Kamal Hassan has already started meticulous efforts to buy the rights of the Hindi movie 'A Wednesday', a recent offbeat hit, to remake it in Tamil and Malayalam.
Kamal has also made plans to bring in Mammootty to do the role of a Police officer that Anupam kher did in the original. Kamal will act in the role of Naseerudeen shah, if all go as per plans.
Rumors are that Mammootty has already expressed his consent to enact the role, which will be of great interest for the fans of these great actors.

Fazil introducing yet another Girl,Aswathy
One of the most reputed directors in Malayalam cinema,Fazil has chosen a new girl Aswathy to be his heroine in his next film with Dileep due for Christmas.
Fazil or Paachika as he is affectionately known has a track record over the years for introducing new girls to Malayalam cinema. Poornima Jayaram, Nadiya Moidu and Shalini were also introduced to the film field by Fazil.
Aswathy,his latest discovery is a final year degree student at the prestigious St Theresa college in Kochi. She is originally from Kozhikode and her father Asokh Kumar works in the gulf. She is very beautiful and is said to be photogenic.
“It is an honour to debut in a film directed by Fazil sir, opposite Dileep. Actually I was supposed to be launched in a Tamil film to be made by Fazil sir, but it did not take place,” says the pretty 19 year old Aswathy.

Climax of LOLLYPOP changed
After the film had been released, at the first day itself there was a bad impression about the picture.It s mainly because of the climax itself.For the good running of the film the climax had been changed.
The climax of Prithviraj's latest starrer Lollypop directed by Shafi has been changed just one day after its release on Sunday (December 21). According to reports, the decision came after Mulagupadam Films, the distributers, urged the producer to change the climax since the initial collections and audience reaction were discouraging.
Lollypop is about Franco (Prithviraj), his sister Jenny (Roma), Franco's friend Eby (Kunchacko Boban), Jenny's collegemate Rose (Bhavana) and Paachi (Jayasurya). Prithviraj appears as the owner of an automobile workshop.
In the original version, Lollypop begins withe scenes of a jetty where a novelist (Jagathy Sreekumar) is stranded after missing the previous night's last boat. In a bid to pass time, he strikes up a conversation with the only other person there Francis (Jayasurya), who starts narrating a flashback, the story of Lollypop. In the new edition, there is no flashback episode and Jayasurya is no longer a ghost! The conversation between Jagathy Sreekumar and Jayasurya has also been deleted.
Kunchako Boban plays a junior doctor, while Jayasurya plays a pickpocket. Lollypop has been scripted by Benny P. Nayarambalam and music is by Alex Paul.

2008 was not a different one for the Malayalam film industry from the previous years. Around 60 films got released in this year and only about 6 or 7 became profit earners for it's producers as well as it's distributors. Remaining films, that is above 50 films were flops, which include films from Superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty also. The major five hits of the year 2008 are :
1) Twenty Twenty :
This film was a Mega Blockbuster. It featured the entire film industry in it, from the Superstars to junior artists. It is the biggest blockbuster in the history of Malayalam cinema. It was released big in 122 screens, enabling the producer to get a gigantic opening. This film was scripted by Sibi - Udayan team and was directed by veteran Joshiy. It was produced by Dileep under Grand productions for AMMA.2) Veruthe Oru Bharya :
This film was a Blockbuster. It featured Jayaram in the male lead and Gopika in the female lead. It is one of the most enjoyable Malayalam films in recent times. This film was scripted by Gireesh and was directed by Akku Akbar. It was produced by Subair under the banner of Cinema Kottaka. The film made under the budget of Rs 1.45 Crore has made a distributors share of nearly Rs 6 crore.3) Annan Thambi :
This film was a Super Hit. It featured Superstar Mammootty as twin brothers and the heroine's of the movie were Lakshmi Rai and Gopika. It was the first film in Malayalam which was released in nearly 70 screens, and took a mammoth opening. This film was scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam and was directed by Anwar Rasheed. It was produced and distributed by Marikar films.4) Maadambi :
This film too was a Super Hit. It featured the other Superstar Mohanlal in the male lead and Kavya Madhavan in the female lead. Madambi is designed as a typical Mohanlal mass masala. The film took a fantastic opening and went on to become a super hit, due to the packaging of it. This film was scripted and directed by B Unnikrishnan. It was produced by joshiy under the banner Surya Arts.5) Cycle :
This film was a Hit. It featured youngsters in it. The main cast includes Vineeth Sreenivasan, Vinu Mohan, Bhama and Sandhya. Cycle went on to beome a huge hit due to it's story and screenplay which is refreshing and racy. The film made on a small budget worked due to word-of-mouth. This film was scripted by James Albert and was directed by Johny Antony. Jiah Khan : Second heroine in Ghajani

Lollipop struggling seriously
Prithviraj's latest movie Lollipop got released on Dec 19. This new film also features Kunchakko Boban, Jayasurya, Bhavana and Roma in it. The film which was scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam and directed by Shafi was carrying good preview reports. But the latest news around the industry is that Lollipop is turning out to be not a sweet experience for its distributors Mulagupadam Films.
The film was rated average by the first day viewers and the audience's reaction to the climax of the film was very bad. They just could not digest a ghost (Jayasurya) narrate the story in a flashback. By evening Shafi and co decided to change the climax. They just re-edited the film. Now there is no flashback episode, Jayasurya is no longer a ghost. Jagathy Sreekumar's who was listening to the story from ghost Jayasurya has now vanished from the film.
With the other Christmas release from Dileep, Crazy Gopalan making not bad reviews at the releasing stations, it will get much tougher for Lollipop to survive. Even after the cutting the film has not been appreciated and collections are not encouraging. Shafi should understand no amount of cutting would save a film, once the word of mouth is out.

Aamir Khan's Ghajini released on Christmas
From USA to Singapore and from Norway to South Africa, Aamir Khan’s latest movie Ghajini released simultaneously in 22 countries on this day ie, on December 25.
The greatly anticipated movie is Aamir Khan ’s first full-on masala film in many years and is likely to pull crowds in hordes to cine theatres.
Written and directed by Tamil film director A.R. Murugadoss, the film will premiere in over 300 cinemas worldwide. The key markets are UAE with 36 prints, the US and Canada with 112 prints and the UK with 65 prints.
The film will also open simultaneously in Norway, Hong Kong, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
“There has been a very good response from exhibitors to ‘Ghajini’, with keen anticipation from the media and public alike. Aamir Khan has been off the screen for almost a year and his fans cannot wait, having already pushed the soundtrack up on the charts,” says Jawahar Sharma, COO of BIG Pictures’ international distribution.
The original film Ghajini(Tamil) was a box office success and was appreciated by critics too. Asin, who also stars in the remake, had bagged the Best Actress Award at the South India Filmfare Awards.
‘Ghajini’ has music by A R Rahman and lyrics by Prasoon Joshi. The music is already topping the charts.

Makante Achan - previews,stills
Director V.M. Vinu's Makante Achan, a prestigious production of Seven Arts after their recent Rajinikanth movie Kuselan, is a family entertainer which revolves around a nuclear family consisting of a Village Officer Viswanathan (Sreenivasan), wife Hema (Suhasini) and their only son Manu (Vineeth Sreenivasan). The movie is planned as a lighthearted comedy film with some family sentiments.
Viswanathan is a tough, uncompromising, honest and straightforward person, who has too many dreams and aspirations for his only son. Like any other father, he dreams that Manu should reach a secure position by acquiring a good education and the right job. Viswanathan is ready to do anything for Manu, who is unfortunately diametrically opposite to his father.
With unlimited freedom as the only child in the family, Manu leads a very lavish, happy-go-lucky life and is never bothered about his lovable parents' wishes. According to Viswanathan, Manu is never serious about his life. Finally, Manu’s attitude leads to a piquant situation in their family, making his father realize that all his dreams were futile. The film deals with the potential crisis of having a single child.
The main highlight of Makante Achan is that Sreenivasan is acting with his son Vineeth, who is also a playback singer. After a long time, veteran actress Nadiya Moidu makes a comeback to Malayalam with this film, which also has Thilakan, Jagathy Sreekumar and Salimkumar in major roles.
Story, script and dialogues are by Samjad Narayanan. Lyrics are by Anil Panachooraan and music by M. Jayachandran. Manoj Pillai handles the camera; P.C. Mohan of Seven Arts is producing the film. Shooting has already started in Palakkad.
Mohanlal Joining Hands with Joshy & Sibi Udayan
Ace scriptwriter Sibi K Thomas - Udhay Krissna and veteran director Joshy is having plans to come together again, for a Mohanlal movie,after creating super hits like 'Runway' and 'Lion' with Dileep.Joshy's last film Twenty Twenty was a mega hit of 2008.
The trio will join together for a Mohanlal movie, for Antony Perumbavoor who will produce the movie under the banner of Aashirwad Films.The new mohanlal project confirmed to start by the end of next July,after the initial discussions.Before this movie, Mohanlal will work with Joshy for the Sasi Ayyanchira film which will be scripted by A K Sajan.

Dileep is back with a release after eight months from ''Mulla'' which came up during last Vishu. The actor who had been heavily engaged with the production of AMMA's Twenty: 20 will have a release as an independent hero by the end of this week.Finally Dileep also have a christmas release.
According to the official news,Dileep’s ‘Crazy Gopalan’ has been confirmed for 24th of this December.So the christmas release films this year are Lollipop and Crazy Gopalan as Mohanlal's Redchillies and Mamooty's VandeMatharam were postponded due to some reason's. The movie Crazy Gopalan was earlier planned to make a release on the last 19th which was shifted due to non completion of its DI works.
According to Deepu Karunakaran,the debutante director of the movie,the movie fall under the heist genre will be a hilarious comedy thriller.Almost all comedy stars of Malayalam has roles in the film.Let us see what will happen.There are seven different get ups for Dileep in this movie.He is doing the character of a hi tech thief.New comer Radha Varma is the heroine of the movie.
In the movie, Gopalan, the title character played by Dileep never had any intention to become a robber. He actually came into the city in search of a fortune but circumstances forced him to become one wily robber and burglar, whose actual identity is quite a mystery to most. He got only a very few friends including Lavanku Vasu, a small-time lottery ticket vendor played by Jagathy' which is the right hand to Gopalan in the discussions and realizations of his weird plans. Also in their group is Lakshmanan, a pickpocketer, who usually takes charge of the stolen goods and sell them in the open market without creating any chaos. Gopalan accidentally meet Diana, who unknowingly becomes a link in his wicked activities.
The music department of the movie is handled by Rahulraj who sets tunes for a few songs written by Gireesh Puthanchery and Anil Panachooran. ‘Crazy Gopalan’ is produced by Ullattil Sasidharan, under the banner of Bhavana Media vision.

Riya Sen first appeared as a child artiste in the film Vishkanya, where she played the role of the young Pooja Bedi. At the age of 15 she was cast in a major role in Bharathiraaja's Tamil film Tajmahal. Her Bollywood film debut was supposed to have been in Love You Hamesha, opposite Akshaye Khanna, but the film was stalled and she ultimately made her debut in N. Chandra's low-budget comedy Style.
Though Style met with success at the box office, most of her other films have not done as well. An exception was Jhankaar Beats, another comedy in which she co-starred with Shayan Munshi, Juhi Chawla, Rahul Bose, Rinke Khanna and Sanjay Suri. Most of her appearances have been item numbers and cameos. Prithviraj & Bhavana in Lollipop
Prithviraj, the future superstar of Malayalam film industry is having a release for this year's Christmas season. The film Lollipop also features Kunchakko Boban, Jayasurya, Bhavana and Roma as the other leading stars in it. This film was directed by hit maker Shafi with the script from Benny P Nayarambalam. The film is produced under the banner of ABS combines by Shafi, Benny P Nayarambalam and Anto Joseph. This is the first film under this banner.
The movie has been carrying good preview reports. This is yet another youngster movie from Shafi after the much accomplained hit Chocolate. But with the initial reports, the film have miserably failed to grow upto the expectations. Everyone will be wondering, how could a director like Shafi direct this movie and a script writer like Benny can write it, because the film is really boring in it's way. The film could have rated an average flick, but the unexpected twist in the climax have made the movie even worse. It was continuos booing in almost all theatres after that strange climax.
Mammootty's first film in 2009
Mammootty, one among the Superstars of Malayalam film industry will have his first release in 2009 by the film Love in Singapore. It is directed by the hit duo Rafi Mecartin. The shooting for the film have already finished and now the post production works of the movie are going on. This mammootty starrer is produced by Rafi under the banner of MHM creations. This film will be distributed by Vaishaka release.
Love in Singapore is considered to be a hilarious comedy script wriiten by the script writers (the directors themselves) following the same pattern of their previous ventures. Film features Mammootty as a scrap dealer named Machu, who later becomes a rich man. Navaneeth Kaur is the heroine of the movie. This film also features all other regular's of Rafi Mecartin.
The movie which was earlier planned for a Christmas release was shifted due to another Mammootty starrer Vande Matharam which was expected for the season. But Vande Matharam - a bilingual failed to complete its shoots in time and left Mammootty with no film to sign off 2008.
Mammootty had a mixed year of 2008 at the box office. Though he started of 2008, with a hit in Raudram with Renji Paniker as a cop and ended the year with a megahit in Twenty 20 as a lawyer, he had some failures in the same year itself. His films like Parunthu and Mayabaazar were disasters at the box office. His other film in that year Annan Thambi was a superhit by the stats.
Overall Mammootty will be happy with his performance at the box office and about 2009 he would be expecting a much good year at box office since all of his films that are to reach the theatres by this year are really some notable ones.

Mohanlal’s Red Chillies postponed to january 2009
After a gap of a couple of years, Mohanlal is back with his favorite director Shaji Kailas, for the new film titled 'Red Chillies'.In the film Mohanlal plays Omar, a multi-millionaire who is settled in Gulf and runs a popular FM station in Kochi.
Omar, a multi-lingual person who can speak in English, Arabic and Malayalam, is a techno savvy fun loving personality who communicates through the e-mail with his nine FM Radio Jockeys known as Red Chillies, who are all madly in love with him. The movie will have nine new sexy models playing the title roles of the 'Red Chillies'.The film Produced by Renjit Rajaputra, the movie is first planned as a Christmas release then postponed to january end.
This is a sad news for all mohanlal fans.Mohanlal will not have a Christmas release for the first time in last five years. His latest movie Red Chillies directed by Shaji Kailas ,due on December 25 has been postponed to January end.
The producers are saying that the post production work of the film has been delayed. The trade says they wanted to delay its release as Twenty:20 is doing amazing business, and during Christmas holidays it will collections will increase as more family and repeat audiences throng the theatre.

Mohanlal all set for a Blessy Film
Mohanlal is once again set to do the lead role in a film directed by Blessy. They had earlier teamed up in Thanmathra, which had done well at the box office and gained much acclaim too.
The film, to be produced by Raju Mallyathu, will be Blessy’s fourth film after Kazhcha, Thanmathra and Calcutta News.
Though earlier it was announced that Jayaram too would be playing a key role in the film, the latest buzz is that Jayaram has backed out of the venture due to date problems. The dates of the Blessy movie would clash with Jayaram’s Satyan Anthicaud-directed movie and it was reportedly due to that that Jayaram had to back out. Blessy, who has also written the script for the film, will in all likelihood commence shooting this month itself.

The movie Aegan was total disappointment
Aegan: Disappointment
Raju Sundaram can better opt assisting his brother Prabhu Deva for couple of flicks before wielding megaphones. Yup! His directorial debut ‘Aegan’ showcases his innovative style of come within reach of many aspects, but amateurish prospects prolongs all throughout especially in screenplay. ‘Main Hoon Naa’ was an absolute blockbuster that had hit the screens nearly before 5 years. Even today, you’ll feel sticking to the film whenever screened in satellite television channels. Finest rigid reasons could be the brilliant directorial by Farah Khan and her knacks of blending commercial elements together.
Prior to couple of days before ‘Aegan’ release, Raju Sundaram came up with a story it’s not a remake of Hindi film, but a Hollywood flick ‘Back to School’. Obviously, looks like Director wouldn’t have even had a look at DVD cover of it. The film is an exact replica of Hindi movie in terms of exact replica on terms of script. Slight modifications in characterizations and deviating screenplay are the panoramas where both the versions differ.
A serious-tough cop Shiva (Ajith Kumar) believes in no one other than his gun (the intro by Nasser reveals of it). Bumping off the top-most notorious gang of International Criminals and one among them is Iqbal. He is one among the gang lead by John Chinnappa (Suman). As one of his assistant Ram Prasad (Devendran) gets way and turns into approver, John Chinnappa kills Ram’s wife. Immediately, Ram Prasad hides himself in Ooty where his daughter Pooja (Piyaa) alienated from him undergoes studies in St. John’s College.
Shiva is assigned by Commissioner as well his father Karthik (Nasser) to disguise himself as student and enter the college. This is all for getting on friendly with Pooja and know whereabouts of her father.
As Shiva steps into College, he encounters various characters: Crazy principal Albert (Jayaram), College Peon (Satyan), gang of college students inclusive of Pooja and her boyfriend Kishore (Navdeep), who happens to be step-brother…
Malikka (Nayanthara), college professor attracts Shiva and it’s love at first sight…. Caught up in a dilemma of romance and emotions he also strides accomplishing his mission.
Wow! What an extraordinary performance by Ajith Kumar? “Student! Oh Me! I have a fat belly, no six packs, and thick beards and how would they believe I am a student” This seems to be the real confessions of an actor who agrees about his identity. Ajith astounds perfect on his dance and credits goes to choreographer brothers Raju Sundaram-Prabhu Deva. They have churned the best out of Ajith’s abilities and his potentials.
On the quotients of comedy, the actor scores 8/10… What about 2 points missing? It’s due to blatant flaw of Raju Sundaram who continually keeps spelling comedies even in grievous situations. The very best sequence is the film is where Ajith sings ‘Unnai Partha Pinbu Naan’ (song from his yesteryear flick ‘Kadhal Mannan) when he first meets Nayanthara. A great delightedness indeed for all the audiences, but the credit goes to Farah Khan and not Raju Sundaram (Shah Rukh Khan sings ‘Ek Ladki Ko Deka Tho’ from 1942 LOVE STORY on his first meet with Sushmitha Sen).
It’s completely nettlesome on the part of Nayanthara. She can better go for training from top-charting actresses. ‘Please Nayan! If you’re there for appearing in sultry looks, just go for ads or modeling. If you’re planning to be a successful actress, then take our first option. And one can’t guess the reason why she is spotted irritated all the time and there is nothing any kind of romance on her part.
Raju Sundaram commits the greatest flaw with his characterization of Suman as John Chinnappa, a comedy oriented villain. It’s ok, if there are humorous parts for few scenes. But it’s so disastrous to see the entire gang of baddies is performing comedies all throughout their sequences.
Nasser, Navdeep and Piyaa take on with good efforts. Piyaa looks cool, but Navdeep is odd on the screen and preferably Raju Sundaram could have opted a good looking young lad. Jayaram and Haneefa spellbound adding more to the humor part and they offer complete strength to richness of film.
None of the musical scores other than ‘Hey Saala’ are really impressive in terms of music. Picturization of ‘Hey Baby’ is pleasant with Ajith imitating Sivaji Ganeshan. But, except this one, all the songs look odd for the placement is proper. Don’t know the reason why even the happiest song have actors looking angrily singing in it on the screens (watch Ajith and Navdeep in Hey Saala).
Screenplay is excellent in the first half and in contrast goes the latter part. Dialogues offer liveliness to the script, but it’s Crazy Mohan overbeating Ramakrishna with his humorous dialogues.
Cinematography by Arjun Jana is moderate and he hasn’t proved of his privilege of being protégé to Nirav Shah (Cameraman of Pattiyal, Dhoom, Dhoom-2, Pokkiri, Billa). Raju Sundaram has merely adapted the location of Hill station from Main Hoon Naa. Well, Farah Khan had well-depicted the scenic beauties of Darjeeling, but nothing such uniqueness is visible here. Except Hong Kong sequences, not many scenes have been shot extensively beauteous.
On the whole, ‘Aegan’ showcases the uttermost potentials of Ajith Kumar. He has rendered his best efforts in comedy, dance, and action and emotes well to romance and sentiments. Raju Sundaram should have well worked precisely for a gripping screenplay in second half avoiding the blatant flaws mentioned above.
Aegan is merely for two categories of audiences: Fans of Ajith Kumar and for those who haven’t watched ‘Main Hoon Naa’.

Nayanthara back to malayalam
After staying away from Malayalam cinema for as long as three years, glamour queen Nayantara is returning to her home turf.
It was in the Mammootty starrer Rappakal in 2005 when Nayanatara last played a significant role in any Malayalam film. She recently did a cameo in director Joshi’s ‘Twenty: 20’ but the role was too brief.
Now, Nayantara is reported to be returning to Malayalam cinema with director Padmakumar’s upcoming film ‘Bombay Dreams’ starring actor-script writer Anoop Menon in the lead role.
The film’s story revolves around a married couple who are compelled to stay together even after getting divorced. The script is written by K. Gireesh Kumar and camerawork will be done by Manoj Pillai.
‘Bombay Dreams’ is set to roll in January next year.
Meanwhile, Nayan has got a couple of Tamil projects in her kitty as well. She had already done ‘Aegan’ with Ajith and is set to do ‘Paiya’ with Karthi.

A string of flops marked the beginning of her career, such as Manasellam, and Alai. However she was well suited for her role opposite Surya in Mounam Pesiyadhe and won critical acclaim. She is well acclaimed for her facial expressions while acting. She then played Vikram's lady love in the mega blockbuster Saamy. The next huge film she took part in followed immediately afterwards, was Ghilli with Vijay, which was a remake of Telugu blockbuster Okkadu. In 2004, she starred in Varsham in Telugu which went on to become the biggest hit of the year and turned her into an overnight sensation. In 2005, she starred alongside Siddharth Narayan in the telugu flick Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana as the village girl Siri. Last time, when M T, Hariharan and Mammootty joined they were able to pull up a mega hit in Oru Vadakkan Veera Gatha. M.T. is famous for interpreting historical and mythological stories differently.
Others in the cast are Kannada film actor Suman, who dons the role of Pazhayaveedan Chandu, and Tamil actor Sarathkumar, who dons the role of Edacheena Kungan. Just like their previous venture, let's hope this film too make it big at the box office.

Mallu Girl Samvritha
Samvritha Sunil is a sexy mallu actress. She has debuted into Malayalam film industry with the film Rasikan (2004) opposite Dileep. That film was directed by Lal Jose. She was a student of St.Theras's college, Cochin.
She had done movies with both the Superstars of Malayalam, Mammootty and Mohanlal, and that movies are Nerariyan CBI (2005) and Chandrolsavam(2005) respectively. Her other notable films were Achanurangatha Veedu, Nottam, Moonamathoral, Vaasthavam etc. Her latest releases like Hello, Arabikadha and Chocolate were Super hits. She also had done a movie each in Tamil and Telugu and they are Uyir and Evadithe Nakenti respectively.
Prithvi's new movie
Prithviraj, the upcoming future Superstar of Malayalam is busy with his tight schedules these days. A new project having Prithviraj in the lead has been announced recently. The film which is titled as Punyam Aham, will be directed by debutant Raj Nair, grandson of literary giant Thakazhi Shivashankara Pillai, who penned the immortal Chemmeen and many other memorable novels in Malayalam.
Samvritha Sunil will don the female lead in this film. This film is based on the story of legendary Naranathu Bhranthan, Panjami, Vararuchi and the established actors like Nedumudi Venu, K.P.A.C. Lalitha and M.R. Gopakumar will play these roles respectively. This film will be produced by director Shyam Prasad and Janardhanan Menon under the Mirabilia Films banner.
The director of this movie, Punyam Aham, Raj Nair, is currently a teacher at Brisbane University, Australia. He also holds a doctorate in oral medicine. He earlier directed the documentary film Kaazhchavasthukkal on the loneliness of old age featuring his grandmother Katha. Raj is also planning to make a feature film in Thai titled The Blind Mirror.
Prithviraj, hero of the movie is currently busy with his film with veteran Mani Ratnam. Only after completing that movie Prithviraj can join this film. It's currently decided to start the shoot of the movie by January 10 at Ottapalam and Kuttanad.

Dhanush uses Superstar Rajnikanth's name
Dhanush seems to be bent on doing films with titles borrowed from hit-films of his father-in-law and superstar Rajnikanth. Pollathavan and Padikkathavan are examples. The next film that Dhanush would be doing, borrowing the title from a Rajni film, will be Pokkiri Raja.
The film of course will have nothing to do with the Rajni-starrer released in 1982. Cinematographer R.D. Rajashekhar will make his debut as a director with Pokkiri Raja, which will be produced by Raj TV, one of the leading Tamil television channels. More details are awaited.

Mammootty's Maanik Basha
The Mammootty-starrer Big B is to find its way to Tamil Nadu, in a Tamil-dubbed version, which will be released with a new name - Maanik Basha. Big B was the debut directorial venture of Amal Neerad, who had earlier cranked the camera for Bollywood films like James and Darna Zaroori Hai and also for the Malayalam movie Black.
Amal is now on to his second directorial venture, Sagar Alias Jackie, shoot for which is in progress. It seems that the decision to release the Tamil version has come up as Mammootty films have a safe market in Tamil Nadu.
Besides Mammootty the film has Nafisa Ali, Manoj K. Jayan, Bala, Pasupathy, Vijayaraghavan, Mamta Mohandas, Manasa, Sherveer Vakil etc. in key roles.

Movie 20-20 is now still running with success
Almost one month after its release, Twenty Twenty continues to retain the top slot at the box office, drawing crowds in large numbers to the theatres across Kerala. And next to ‘Twenty Twenty’, it’s the Jayaram starrer that maintains its sway at the box office, followed next by ‘Kurukshetra’. The most notable thing is that other than these three, there is not a single Malayalam film that has managed to stay afloat at the box office. Here’s a look at this week’s box office status:
Produced by Dileep’s ‘Graand Productions’ for AMMA, Twenty Twenty, directed by Joshiy continues to draw crowds to the theatres across the state. Released on the 5th of November, this multi-starrer flick featuring almost all the prominent stars of Malayalam continues steadily in all centres. Scripted by Udayakrishna and Sibi K. Thomas, ‘Twenty Twenty’ has managed to make a gross collection of over Rs. 80 Lakhs in just three weeks.
The Akku Akbar-directed Veruthe Oru Bharya, released in the first week of August, still continues to maintain its stand at the box office as a family hit. The film, starring Jayaram and Gopika in lead roles, recently celebrated 125 days of successful run. Scripted by K. Gireesh Kumar, Veruthe Oru Bharya offers nothing new in terms of the story, and may even be called ‘old wine in new bottle’. But since the film has been neatly packaged as a decent family entertainer, it found takers with the family audience. Moreover, Pyramid Saimira, the distributors of the film, have been taking care to market the film with utmost care and zest. The film has brought in a gross collection of over Rs.55 Lakhs.
The Major Ravi-directed Mohanlal-starrer Kurukshetra, based on the Kargil War, had won over the hearts of film-lovers all over Kerala as a well-made war film. Of course people exposed to Hollywood and Bollywood war movies might not have liked ‘Kurukshetra’, but the director had made the film as neatly as he could by remaining within the budget constraints of Malayalam Cinema. The film, shot on locations in Kargil, has brought in a gross of about Rs.42 Lakhs in 50 days.
The Anil-directed Jayaram-Sreedevika starrer Parthan Kanda Paralokam, which didn’t evoke much of good opinion and the well-crafted Ranjith-directed Thirakatha continue to run at some centres, especially ‘B’ theatres. At the same time Tamil films like the Gautham Menon-directed Suriya-starrer Vaaranam Aayiram and the Raju Sundaram-directed Ajith-starrer Aegan got a good run at least in some centres in Kerala. The Bollywood flick Dostana and the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace too are in the fray.

Mammootty to do a Shafi movie
Whenever Mammootty and Shafi joints, there will be something special for every film lover to enjoy in that. If we takes their previous ventures like Thommanum Makkalum and Mayavi, the statement becomes true. After these two much successful films Shafi and Mammootty are once again coming together.
