Lal in 'Chayamukhy’

After his much celebrated drama appearance in Kavalam Narayana Panikkar's 'Karnabharam', Mohanlal is going to appear on stage again, doing a full length play in 'Chayamukhy'. This two hour play which is to get its premier show staged at Trichur's Lulu convention centre, today evening, will have him playing the character of Bheema.
The play is produced by Mukesh’s 'Kalidasa Visual Magic'. ‘Chayamukhi' is a mirror given to Bheema by Hidumbi, a mirror that enables the viewer to see the image of the person he or she loves the most. Taking this story thread from the epic `Mahabharata`s Virataparvam, playwright and director Prashant Narayanan is discussing the themes of notions on love that remains unreturned. The play moves back and forth between the present and the time of the Mahabharata, as the mirror gets exchanged to various characters who realizes what their hearts love most, rather than what their minds asked them to believe.
Mukesh will play the demon king Keechaka in ‘Chayamukhy’. This 14 segment drama features 24 actors other than Lal and Mukesh. The crew has rehearsed for sixty days to perfect the presentations, which also include 14 short songs set to music by Vidhyadharan and written by the director.

‘Twenty Twenty' restarts

Want to see majority of the Mollywood artists together in one set? Then come over to Cochin to witness the shoot of the first film from Association of Malayalam Movie Artists. You will definitely have a chance to meet at least forty important artists of Malayalam shooting for one movie.
The news is that AMMA's multistarrer 'Twenty Twenty' will restart its shoot at Kochi, after a gap of a month. This new schedule is planned up to the fourth of next month, within which majority of the shoots for the film will be over.
Almost all the important stars of Mollywood from Mammooty and Mohanlal to all the important female artists of Malayalam industry will make themselves available in these dates to do their parts for this movie.
‘Twenty Twenty’ directed by veteran Joshy is now scheduled to reach the theatres by the mid of June.

‘Malabar Wedding' is the first Vishu release

'Malabar Wedding’, the debut film of the director duo K. Rajesh and A.M. Faizal, both assistants of Priyadarshan, is slated to hit theatres on April 3, as per the present schedules.
Based on the backdrop of 'Sorakalyanam', a custom prevalent in some parts of Malabar, where friends built up false stories to tease the bride and groom, the film is all set to present the rarest of the stories to Mollywood.
The movie stars Indrajith and Gopika in the lead roles, telling the story of a young village boy who falls in love with a Malayalee girl who is brought up in Kolkata, without any understanding of the custom. Also in the cast are Jagathy Sreekumar, Janardhanan, Sooraj Venjaramoodu, Bindu Panicker, Mamookoya, Bijukuttan, Santhosh Jogi, Manianpillai Raju, K.T.S.Padannayil and Harshri Ashokan.
With lots of comic sequences, the film also has some good songs by Rahulraj.
Indrajith and Gopika, considered as a lucky pair had earlier worked together in hits like ‘Chandupottu’ and ‘Vesham’.

Kuruvi is scheduled to release in May

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Kuruvi is scheduled to release in May.

Now according to media reports Malayalam cinema’s leading hair dresser Mahi had took the Kerala theatrical rights for a Rs 1.50 crore on royalty basis (print cost and publicity will have to be met by the distributor).

Kuruvi is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Dharani of Ghilli fame will be directing this action adventure movie. The film stars Vijay and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay has once again proved that he is the king of Tamil actors.

Prithviraj goes to Tollywood.

Malayalam hero Prithviraj makes his entry into the Telugu film industry with a new flick by Pinnacle Pictures,directed by Challa Manmohan.The young and handsome star has already made a name in Tamil after doing almost 25 films in Malayalam.He is the youngest actor who won the prestigious Kerala State Award.
Prithvi is well known among the Telugu audiences through Sivapuram,the dubbed version of Santhosh Sivan's Ananthabhadram (Malayalam).Prithvi who gives lot of importance to scripts read the story and fell in love with it that he decided to make his debut in Telugu.It is a story of a cop and for that Prithvi has to put on weight.
Music is by Chakri and Manisha lamba is likely to be the heroine of the film which will start rolling in April.Camera is by Srikanth and action is by Peter Haynes.

Kuselan - Remake Of Kadha Parayumbol

Superstar Rajinikanth revealed that he doing a very important role in 'Kuselan'. However, he said that, as per the story, “Pasupathy’s role is 50%, Vadivelu gets 25% and 25% for me”. He added that the movie revolves around his character.

He spoke on the occasion of the pooja of ‘Kuselan’ held today morning in AVM studios. “The character Ashok Raj will be a turning point in my career”, the Superstar told the press persons gathered in a large number. He said in a lighter vein that Meena, who first acted as a child in his film and as a pair later, dons the role of a mother in this film. He quickly added with laugh that, “Not as a mother to me. She acts as a mother of two children”.

He also informed that the emotional climax would be on par with 'Chandramukhi'. He expressed his confidence that the movie would come out very well.

Director P. Vasu said that the movie is Rajini’s movie and that no one needs to have any doubt about it. His character has been shaped to fulfill the expectations of his fans, he added.

It is learnt that Rajini has two fights and two duets in the film.
Hundreds of press persons including cameramen and videographers gathered in the spot. Two TV channels telecasted the event live.

The Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan starrer 'Jodhaa Akbar' is creating new record in collections.

'Jodhaa Akbar is directed by the director of 'Lagaan'. It is a historical story of a romance between the Mugal king Akbar and Jodhaa, a Rajasthani princess.

The Rajasthanis protested against the film accusing that the film shows their community in a bad light. 'Jodhaa Akbar' was not allowed to be released in Rajasthan.

In the midst of such protests, the film has created a record in collections. It collected Rs.20 crore at the end of the first week and Rs.11 crore in the second week. A total collection of Rs.32 crore in two weeks.

Vidya shot for Heyy Babyy in Australia for four months."Akshay was a major prankster.I was on tenterhooks all the time.One did not know what Akshay was up to.My one ambition in life is to get even with him for all the pranks that he has played on me.Shooting has seldom been so much fun.I didn't even realise how these two schedules for the two completely contrasting films,'Heyy Babyy' and Bhool Bhulaiyaa,passed off," she said.
As for her involvement with costars,Vidya is aware that tongues will wag all over again."I'm prepared for stories to filter back.I've gone through this before.During Salaam-e-Ishq,they linked me to John Abraham for the same reason because people saw us having so much fun together.Now there'll gossip because Akshay and I had a great time," she said.
For 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa',Vidya had to do some serious heart-in-the-mouth classical dancing."As a child,I learnt Bharatanatyam.Then I learnt Kathak for a couple of months a few years ago.That's it.But I had to do one elaborate classical dance and I was so scared.I believe it has turned out well,thanks to choreographer Pony Verma.Pony has done a lot of songs with Priyan,who told my Dad that he is happy with the way I've danced.I truly enjoyed it.Thank god," she said.
