First Chinese actress in Malluwood
Zhang Shu Min, a Chinese girl who is working in the ace director Lal Jose's new movie Arabikatha was recently in Kerala to shot for a part of the film.
Pretty surprised with the Kerala culture and its beautiful people, the actress was the talk of the mob in the filmi circuit. She bagged the role opposite Sreenivasan when she was working for a Dubai-based company.
Zang Shu Min's entry into films is a story that will very well suit a film. She started as a translator -- helping the crew to find a Chinese girl for the role.
The director cannot find any one better who could speak good English and could emote as well, like Shu Min. That's when director Lal Jose decided on Shu Min for the role.
“I have been in Dubai for more than three years now and I was quite friendly with a number of Malayalis. Besides, I get a warm reception wherever I go”, says the actress who is pretty new to the field and its etiquette’s.

After winning accolades for his various portrayals, Mohanlal has now chosen to try his hands at penning the script for a Malayalam movie.
Mohanlal is writing the story for Swapnamaalika being produced by Karimbil Films.
The film, to be directed by KA Devaraj, will have Mohanlal doing the lead role as well, while the director himself does the screenplay.
Camera work is by Venugopal. Music is by Jayakishan.
Vimala Raman Latest Photos
Even though she has made not a much impressive debut in Tamil and in Malayalam, Vimala Raman is now flooded with offers. The girl who was launched in Tamil in K.Balachander's Poi. She was presented in Malayalam in Suresh Gopi's Time, followed by last week's Pranayakalam.
Eventhough these films were non starters, her role in both the films as Vaiga and lovelorn Maria captures attention and she showed her mettle as an actress of substance in both the charcters. She has also a number of films lined up in future with the next release being Jayaram's Sooriyan in July.
Now the latest we hear is that Vimala is also playing one of the leads in Mammootty's Joshy film Nasarani. And the big news is that she is Mohanlal's heroine in College Kumaran, for which shooting will start by September.
Meanwhile, in another casting coup Vimala is on to play a crucial role in Blessy's Calcutta News where she is pitted opposite Dileep and Meera Jasmine, two wonderful actors of our times. The film will start next week in Calcutta.

'Time' is a typical Shaji Kailash film with all its rapid cuts, big dialogues and eccentric characters and a story inspired from the newspapers. This time around, he has maintained steady pace throughout the film, something that he often falters at. But, you just cant help but notice that the film doesn't have that big a story to tell.

Mission 90 days in 29 days
A real life story based on the assassination of the former Prime Minister Rajiv gandhi is Mission 90 days. Mammotty plays the lead role and Bombay heroine Tulip plays opposite to mamooka. Mammootty plays an army officer role who investigate the murder and nab the culprits. The film has been shot in 29 days. Mission 90 days is a commercial movie. Director of the movie is Major Ravi who gave us Keerthichakra with Mohanlal, Jeeva and Gopika.
Technicians in Malayalam On Strike:
Malayalam film technicians call for indefinite strike, the one day strike turned to be an indefinite one after Producers Association rejected the plea by MACTA to hike the pay of Technicians. Producers feels that the hike will increase the production cost and atleast Rs 10 lacs per film will be an added burden to a producer. MACTA comprises 18 different sections of film industry workers - right from drivers to directors. Several initiatives from different sections of the film industry have failed to iron out the differences between the two associations. The producers association, meanwhile, will meet Wednesday.

Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan to clash on silver screen
It could well be the casting coup of the year in case the move fructifies, says the buzz from Mollywood.
Impatient to hear the news? Here it is. The hot tiding is that Malayalam mega star Mohanlal and Tamil super star Kamal Haasan are set to rub shoulders on the silver screen.
The daring move to bring them together has been taken by director Major Ravi, according to the grapevine.
The report is that Major Ravi is planning to cast them in his forthcoming movie on the hijacking of an Indian plane by the militants.
Major Ravi has already worked with Mohanlal and Mammootty . The film featuring Mohanlal, ‘Keertichakra’, did well at the box office. The flick with Mammootty in the lead titled, ‘Mission 90 Days’, is in the making.
Kamal Haasan is, of course, no stranger to Malayalam movies. The versatile actor also speaks excellent Malayalam.
But he has not figured in a Malayalam movie for a long time.
Be that as it may, sparks are bound to fly as the mighty duo team up together and match their formidable acting skills.
A veritable visual delight is in the offing for the fans of both Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan.

Lal Jose and Dileep came together for Chandupottu. Lal Jose followed it up with Classmates. The film created an all-time box office record for being the highest earner.
He is now busy directing Sreenivasan for Arabikatha. The film stars a Chinese heroine opposite Sreenivasan. Now Lal Jose reunites with Dileep.
The two had worked together in blockbusters like 'Meesa Madhavan' and 'Chandupottu'. This is their fourth film together.
As soon as Dileep completes his present assignments including Calcutta News, the new film's shooting will begin.
Hello Releasing On June 29
Mohanlal latest movie Hello will grace the theatres by the end of this month. The film whose release has been preponed by two weeks will grace the theatres by the 29th of June.
The film which is in its post production stages is said to be a whole some entertainer with plenty of comedies. Trade pundits are surprised to hear the new dates of release as latest forecasts predicts heavy showers by the month end.
Prajapathi the Mammootty starrer which was released on the same weekend, last year met with such a lot of disturbances and became a washout.
And with another five releases immediately in the first weeks of July, every eye will be on the box office fate of the movie.

Big B and Chotta Mumbai becomes profits
A film which is running to the fifty fifth day in more than ten odd release centres, still couldn't advertise with a fiftieth day poster. You can't find one, no where near the centres where this superstar film is running.
All over the state, you can see only three flex boards of the film, that too in the city corporations. What is being discussed is about the marketing of Big B directed by Amal Neerad, which has already break even, without any good marketing support from its creators.
The film which has already grossed over eight crores is the second hit of Mammootty in the present year. The grape wine is that as the film has turned out to be profits, the producer group has lost interest to market it more to hundred days, but has started working on next projects. The producers have decided last day, to print one poster for the sixty day of the film which will appear in a few days.
The opposite is the case of the other Vishu release Chotta Mumbai which is nearing 60 days this week.
The film has got a good aggressive marketing department which worked to its extreme to make it a break even. The film even aired advertisements in between popular soaps in small screens, which costed to two lakh per day. Then they had a bunch of onscreen discussions on the film in channels and propagated the feel of the youthful movie all around, which attracted families.
And you will find a 69 day poster, pasted even before the film completed 55 days. What resulted is a ten crore plus collections from its eight weeks in theatres for Chotta Mumbai. And that is the magic of good marketing for any better product.
Dileep's Vinodhayathra is the undoubted winner of the lot still continuing in 18 plus centres. Even though the collection dipped to fifty percent, the film is sure to celebrate hundred days.
U certificate for Sivaji
As the big releases of Malluwood are waiting for the mega phenomenon on Indian screens Sivaji to get released, the film was granted a U certificate by the censors.
Interestingly both AVM (Producers) and Rajinikanth are known for coming out with good, clean entertainers that can be watched with the family.
The movie's story at every point of its lavish production was kept a closely guarded secret.
All over a year of its production, the media was trying to put forward some bits and pieces about its plot, but finally succumbed to the hard kept secret. It is said that the censor script of the film was even made in great secrecy.
According to the director Shankar, the film has shaped out exactly the way that he indented and is thoroughly satisfied with his work. He is said to have selected a strong story line to merge the onscreen image of Rajnikanth with that of the character Sivaji.
The film which is to be released in 350 to 400 theatres in Tamil Nadu will hit at least 50 screens in Kerala this fifteenth.
The hundred plus theatres of the state has started showing 2 minutes 40 seconds sleek and stylish trailer of the film from June 1.

Navya Nair also joins Mohanlal' as one of the heroines in his new action film Ali Bhai, the film which is being shot in Valiyangaady market in Kozhikode has Mohanlal playing Ali Bhai, a trade union leader who controls the famous Palayam market in Kozhikode. He is the descendent of Baramy who came from Yemen, centuries ago, to do business in Kerala. Gopika is the other heroine in the film.
The film has a big supporting cast including, Innocent, Cochin Haneefa, Sai Kumar, Rajan P Dev, Siddique, Jagadish, Shammi Thilakan, Augustine, Anand, T.G Ravi, Arya and Kalaraknjini.
The script is written by T.A Shaheed, and music by Alex Paul. The film, distributed by Central pictures, will be Onam release of Lal.
Ali Bhai for Onam 2007
Gopika and Navya are Mohanlal’s heroines in his new action masala film Ali Bhai, for which shooting has started in Kozhikode. The Shaji Kailas directed and Antony Perumbavoor produced film is Mohanlal’s big Onam release.
Mohanlal plays Ali Bhai, a trade union leader who controls the famous Palayam market in Kozhikode. Ali is the darling of the masses and downtrodden and helps anybody who comes to him without expecting anything in return.
